Zamalek forward Oday Dabbagh expressed satisfaction after his side secured a 0-0 draw against Al-Masry in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.
The result keeps the Egyptian giants second in Group D, trailing the group leaders by one point and sitting just ahead of South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs.
“Thank God for the draw against Al-Masry. The players did not fall short, and our goal was to win and collect the three points in order to secure the top spot,” Dabbagh told beIN SPORTS.
He added that the match was largely defensive in the first half, with Zamalek pushing for a breakthrough after the break but ultimately failing to find the net.
“The first half of the match was characterised by a defensive nature, and we tried to score in the second half but we did not succeed in the mission.”
“We will try to correct the mistakes in the coming period, especially since there are many circumstances that have affected us recently and we are striving to overcome them.”
Looking ahead, the Palestinian international said the team will shift focus to their next Egyptian Premier League fixture against Petrojet, noting that each match will be approached individually.
“We will think about the next match against Petrojet in the Egyptian League, and we study each match individually.”
Zamalek’s league campaign resumes with the Petrojet clash following a lengthy break due to the Egyptian national team’s participation in the Africa Cup of Nations.
