The Diambars Institute of Saly secured the 2013 championship title in Senegal’s professional football League 1 after the 30th and final round of the competition. Diambars needed at least a draw against Guédiawaye Football Club (GFC) to secure the title, and they accomplished more with a 4-0 victory. Aristide Diedhiou, Emmanuel Gomis, and Pape Moussa Dioum Sow scored three goals in just three minutes (21st to 25th minute). Pape Moussa Dioum Sow added another goal in stoppage time. Diambars finished the season with 52 points, followed by Olympique de Ngor with 49 points. This victory marked Diambars’ success in achieving their goal of becoming champions within five years of rising to Ligue 1, accomplishing it in just four years. The top scorers of the 2013 season were El Hadji Fine Bop of Olympique de Ngor and Mouhamadou Dramé of DUC, both scoring 12 goals. Guédiawaye Football Club (GFC), AS Douanes, ASSUR, and US Gorée were relegated to Ligue 2, while Stade de Mbour and Suneor were promoted to Ligue 1 for the next season.
