Real Madrid head coach Álvaro Arbeloa has expressed his desire for Vinicius Junior to remain at the club, as speculation intensifies over a possible summer move to the Saudi Pro League.
The Brazilian forward has been linked with a lucrative exit following a season marked by on-pitch brilliance and a strained relationship with sections of the Santiago Bernabéu crowd.
Speaking before Real Madrid’s 2-0 league victory over Villarreal, Arbeloa made clear his personal stance, even while acknowledging that the final decision will not rest with him.
Vinicius has grown into one of the club’s most decisive attacking figures in recent seasons, playing a central role in domestic and European success, and his potential departure would represent a significant shift in Madrid’s attacking identity.
The coach underlined his belief in the project and the importance of players who have already written important chapters in the club’s modern history.
“It’s not up to me, but obviously I hope he continues to make history here.”
On the January market, he also said: “I have an extraordinary squad. If anything is needed, the club will be able to count on the youth team, as always.
“The players are willing to work hard, they welcomed me with open arms.
“They put the team before the individual, even when playing out of position.”
