Nigeria secured a 2-0 victory over South Africa in a friendly match held in Durban, part of the 18th edition of the Nelson Mandela Challenge. The first half ended in a goalless draw, but the second half saw increased action. Uche Nwofor, coming in as a substitute for Shola Ameobi, made an immediate impact by scoring a brilliant heel goal just two minutes after entering the pitch. In the 68th minute, Nwofor doubled the lead with an assist from Victor Moses and Ahmed Musa. This win served as good preparation for Nigeria as they head into the final World Cup qualifiers, where they will face Malawi. Malawi also won their friendly match against Rwanda 1-0 on the same day.
