Yaya Touré has been named the best Ivorian footballer of the year 2013, winning the Sport-Ivoire prize for the third time. The award is determined through cumulative votes from both the press (national and international, contributing 60%) and internet users (40%) on the sport-ivoire.ci website.
Despite a 2012-2013 season without winning any titles with Manchester City, Yaya Touré secured 32% of the votes cast, surpassing Galatasaray striker Didier Drogba, who received 24% of the votes. Wilfried Bony, the top choice in the press vote with 28%, came in third with 17% of the cumulative vote. Arouna Koné and the 2012 winner, Gervinho, secured the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
This marks the third time Yaya Touré has received the Sport-Ivoire prize, adding to his previous honors in 2008 and 2009. The Manchester City midfielder also won the 2012 Glo CAF Awards Player of the Year.
