Saint-Etienne is set to begin its championship campaign against Ajaccio, and there are talks about the club’s interest in acquiring the services of Malian striker Modibo Maïga (25 years old). The player, who formerly played for Sochaux, has faced challenges establishing himself at West Ham since joining in the summer of 2012.
Modibo Maïga was previously linked to Olympique de Marseille, as reported by Eurosport. Despite an average season in his first year in the Premier League (17 games, 2 goals), the Malian international secured a four-year contract with West Ham.
His potential return to the French championship faced obstacles, including concerns over his salary, which was deemed too high by Bordeaux, who also expressed interest in the player.
