The photographs came amid nationwide celebrations following Senegal’s dramatic AFCON 2025 victory over host nation Morocco.
The Teranga Lions secured a 1-0 win after extra time at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, clinching the continental title for the second time in their history and confirming their status as one of Africa’s modern football powerhouses.
Following the triumph, President Faye hosted the players, technical staff, and federation officials at the Presidential Palace in Dakar, where he praised their achievement and its unifying effect on the nation.
Head coach Pape Thiaw and his squad were formally honoured by the state, receiving elevation to the rank of Commander within the National Order of the Lion.
Beyond the silverware, the celebrations underscored Senegal’s growing football legacy. By lifting the AFCON trophy again, the country joined an elite group of nations to have won the competition multiple times, further cementing a golden era defined by stars such as Sadio Mané, Pape Gueye, and Edouard Mendy.
