Having secured qualification for the third and final round of the Brazil 2014 World Cup before the conclusive sixth day of the qualifiers, Algeria is already gearing up for its global campaign.
Algerian football authorities, led by Mohamed Raouraoua, the head of the FAF (Fédération Algérienne de Football), have reached out to their Spanish counterparts proposing a friendly match. According to Koora, the FAF has formally communicated their intent for this friendly encounter, tentatively scheduled for May, with hopes high that the Fennecs will secure their spot in the final phase of the World Cup.
Currently leading their group with 12 points, Algeria stands ahead of Mali (7 points) and Benin (6 points). Rwanda is at the bottom with 3 points. The upcoming decisive match on the final day will see Algeria facing Mali.
In the meantime, Algeria has scheduled a friendly against Guinea on FIFA Day, which falls on August 14.
