CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: THE BIG NAMES HAVE FALLEN!

Pirates 300x170 1

The second day of the group stage in the African Champions League was eventful, particularly for the competition leaders. In Group A, Al Ahly suffered a significant home defeat against Orlando Pirates, with the South Africans securing an easy 3-0 victory in El Gouna. The match almost didn’t last the full duration.

In the other Group A encounter, Zamalek also faced defeat in Congo against AC Léopards, finishing 1-0. As a result, the weekend winners, Orlando Pirates and AC Léopards, now lead the group with 4 points each. However, Léopards is second on goal difference, while Ahly and Zamalek are at the bottom of the table.

Turning to Group B, Esperance de Tunis capitalized on their home advantage against Coton Sport de Garoua, securing a 1-0 victory to bounce back from their previous defeat in Angola. Meanwhile, Séwé Sport of Ivory Coast dominated against Recreativo Libolo, winning 3-1 with a standout performance from Kevin Zougoula.

In the standings, Séwé Sport leads the group with 3 points, followed by Esperance de Tunis (also with 3 points). Recreativo Libolo and Coton Sport have 3 and 0 points, respectively.
