After seven weeks of rehabilitation at Clairefontaine, Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has returned to London. In an interview with Le Parisien, he reassured everyone by stating, “Everything is fine and everything is going well.” Diaby is currently in the second phase of his rehabilitation, focusing on strengthening his left quadriceps and working on the full extension of his leg.
Diaby, the French international, suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in his left knee on March 28 during training with Arsenal. He aims to start running again at the end of August and is expected to make his return to competition in November. Diaby expressed the importance of the upcoming season, especially with the World Cup on the horizon, stating, “It’s a very important season, with a World Cup in which I want to participate. I’m not going to rush, and when I come back, I will be 100% to give myself every chance of having a big second half of the season.” Abou Diaby, of Ivorian origin, is under contract with Arsenal until June 2015.
