Upon joining Borussia Dortmund in the current transfer window, Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has expressed his ambitions for the upcoming season. The former Saint–Etienne player shared his thoughts on the rivalry between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
“When I heard that Borussia Dortmund were interested in me, it convinced me straight away. I like the BvB style of play, which fits with my philosophy. My dream is the same as that of the whole team: to win the Bundesliga and return to the Champions League final,” Aubameyang stated. He acknowledged that Bayern Munich is a formidable team with great players but believes that Borussia Dortmund can compete with them, as demonstrated in the German Super Cup final, where Dortmund secured a 4-2 victory. However, Aubameyang acknowledged that, for now, Bayern remains the best team in Germany and on the European scene. Nonetheless, he expressed confidence that Dortmund is close to competing at that level.
