In preparation for the 6th and final day of the World Cup qualifiers for Brazil 2014, where Cameroon will face Libya in Group I, Indomitable Lions coach Volker Finke has expressed a desire for the closure of the Omnisports stadium, the venue for the upcoming match. According to a source close to the stadium management, the German coach believes that closing the stadium would ensure a pitch in excellent condition for the crucial match against Libya.
As a consequence, there are indications that championship matches and training sessions will be relocated from the Omnisports stadium until the day of the match. This decision has raised concerns, particularly among coaches, including Emmanuel Ndoumbè Bosso, coach of the Lions A’, who is preparing the team for the final phase of the CHAN (African Nations Championship). The Cubs had planned training sessions at the Omnisports stadium, but if it is closed, adjustments will be necessary.
Despite these challenges, Cameroon currently leads Group I with 10 points, followed closely by Libya. Meanwhile, the Indomitable Lions are expected to participate in a training course in the Paris region for FIFA Day on August 14.
