Barcelona may be deprived of the services of Moroccan international Shady Ryad, currently on loan to Real Betis with a purchase option, due to a clause embedded in his contract.
The Catalan sports newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” highlighted that Barcelona’s plan to navigate financial fair play would face a “major blow” if Betis decided to exercise the purchase option for Shady Ryad at €3.5 million.
The Catalan newspaper emphasized that the setback stems from a clause granting Barcelona the right to reclaim the Moroccan player, which can only be activated one year after the initial purchase.
The same source indicated that Barcelona intends to address the existing deficiency in its defensive line by repurchasing Moroccan player Shady Ryad, currently on loan to Real Betis with a purchase option.
In an explanation of the agreement between Barcelona and Betis, the Catalan newspaper stated, “This means that Barcelona is not entitled to reclaim Shady Ryad in the summer of 2024, and it must wait until 2025 to work on the return of the Moroccan player for €7 million.”
It continued, “If Barça wants to expedite Shady Ryad’s return in the coming summer, it must enter into negotiations with Betis to agree on a new purchase price for the Moroccan player.”
It is worth noting that several reports had previously affirmed that Barcelona is compelled to sell one of its defensive players in the summer to contribute to easing the restrictions imposed by the financial fair play regulations.
