Anjorin Moucharafou, the former president of the FBF (Benin Football Federation), is facing fresh legal challenges as he has been sent to prison for alleged mismanagement of a contract with a mobile phone company. This revelation was reported by the Ecofin Agency on Wednesday. Alongside Moucharafou, Cécile Houssou, the former FBF accountant, is also behind bars.
The accusations against Moucharafou involve the alleged misuse of funds from a marketing contract with the company MTN, which held the rights to use the logos of the Squirrels (the national team’s nickname) for a period of three years. As a member of the CAF Executive Committee, Moucharafou is specifically accused of not adhering to the terms of the agreement and conducting false assessments.
Interestingly, this information surfaces just two days after Anjorin Moucharafou declared his withdrawal from the race for a new mandate at the FBF. It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time he has faced charges related to the misappropriation of sponsorship contract funds.
