Despite the controversy surrounding Nike’s mistake with his shoes, Papiss Cissé has not lost any of his goal-scoring prowess.
In fact, it is on the field where the Senegalese striker is most effective, as his coach Alan Pardew revealed upon his return to training. Starting in the match against St Mirren (a Scottish club) this Tuesday, Cissé promptly scored his first goal of the season in the 19th minute, skillfully assisted by Sammy Ameobi. The former Fribourg striker skillfully outmaneuvered the opposing goalkeeper.
Frenchman Mathieu Debuchy added a second goal, securing a 2-0 victory. Cissé, who initially had reservations about wearing the jersey due to a dispute with the club over the new sponsor, seems back in goal-scoring form.
