This evening, the seven qualifiers for the next edition of CHAN (African Nations Championship) are known. Burundi completed the table on Sunday evening with a penalty shootout victory of 4-3 against Sudan, following a 1-1 draw in regulation time, mirroring the first-leg score.
Nadir El Tayeb opened the scoring for Sudan before Gilbert Kaze equalized. Congo secured their ticket with a narrow 1-0 victory over DR Congo. However, the latter is not eliminated yet; the Leopards will have to go through the playoffs in a few weeks. Mali also qualified on Sunday, defeating Guinea.
The 12 qualified teams are South Africa (as the organizing country), Burkina Faso, Burundi, Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Nigeria, and Uganda.
