In a comprehensive interview with colleagues from Le Buteur, Algerian international Soudani shared insights into his initial experiences with new Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb and discussed his aspirations. Revealing his deep admiration for Chelsea and its coach José Mourinho, El Arbi Soudani expressed his desire to someday play for the English club.
“Since José Mourinho took charge of the Chelsea team in 2004, I have closely followed this team. Before that, I didn’t have a favorite club, but Chelsea’s style of play captivated me, along with Mourinho’s personality. It was on this occasion that my admiration for Didier Drogba was born. You know, I have a crazy dream: to play for Chelsea one day. At least, it’s a dream and a hope. We have the right to dream, don’t we,” he declared.
Soudani also addressed the criticism he faced after a match against Benin during the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. Accused of missing several scoring opportunities, he defended himself, saying, “I saw the referee raise his flag, and that’s why I shot without conviction. Moreover, the television images clearly show that I kicked the ball and turned around immediately, without even seeing if it had gone in or not, proof that I had seen the flag raised. If I had wanted it, the ball would have been in there. However, I was put on trial, accusing me of having missed too many opportunities,” explained the player.
