The renowned Senegalese sports journalist, Ibrahima Diop, emphasized the crucial role played by the Mohamed VI Football Academy in advancing Moroccan football and its prominence, notably showcased during the remarkable performance at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Diop, the managing editor of “Le Quipe Type,” stated in an interview with the Moroccan Arab News Agency that Morocco’s sports policy under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, coupled with investments in facilities, infrastructure, and sports training, especially through the Mohamed VI Football Academy, “has yielded remarkable results.”
Since its establishment in 2009, the Mohamed VI Academy has been instrumental in realizing Morocco’s visionary strategy, highlighted by the strong performance of the national team during the 2022 World Cup and the ongoing 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Diop, also a sports consultant on Yeuggle TV, pointed out that Morocco, ending 2023 as the leader in African football, has ascended in the global football rankings due to its monumental achievements in Qatar.
For the first time in history, an African country, in this case, Morocco, reached the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup, securing the fourth position in the Qatar tournament.
Furthermore, Diop emphasized that both on the continental and global stage, whether in clubs or national teams, Morocco now “imposes its expertise,” noting that three graduates from the Mohamed VI Football Academy – Nayef Aguerd, Aziz Bouhaddouz, and Youssef En-Nesyri, currently playing for prestigious European clubs, serve as true ambassadors for the academy.
They stand as a testament to the academy being a “fertile ground for nurturing and refining talents, establishing the effective and victorious foundations of Moroccan football.”
Diop concluded by affirming that Morocco possesses football talents that, in a favorable and enchanting environment like the Mohamed VI Academy, can only further refine their skills and proudly represent Morocco in prestigious global competitions.
