Former Moroccan international, Mouloud Madkour, has hailed Morocco as a become a beacon of African football excellence under King Mohammed VI’s leadership, stressing that the Kingdom’s hosting of the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations was a historic achievement and a resounding success that astonished Africa and the world.
The continental showpiece came to an end on Sunday, January 18, 2026, with Senegal emerging as champions following a 1-0 win after extra-time.
Madkour, who is the current head coach of Qatari club Al-Duhail has expressed that the successful organization of the AFCON extends beyond the sporting aspect, reflecting a comprehensive vision that has transformed major events into catalysts for economic and social development, and platforms for enhancing Morocco’s cultural and civilizational influence.
