Napoli officially confirmed the signing of Gonzalo Higuain on Saturday, and Real Madrid also verified the transfer, announcing that the Argentine striker has joined the Serie A club. Higuain, who successfully underwent a medical examination on Wednesday, is expected to be presented to the Napoli fans on Monday.
According to reports from both Spanish and Italian media, Napoli paid 37 million euros for Higuain’s transfer, with an additional three million euros in bonuses based on performance. The Argentine forward faces the challenging task of filling the void left by Edinson Cavani, who recently joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
During his time with Real Madrid, Higuain played in 191 La Liga matches, scoring 107 goals. He also notched eight goals in 48 Champions League appearances. Higuain contributed to Real Madrid’s success, winning three La Liga championships (2007, 2008, and 2012) and a Copa del Rey in 2011.
Real Madrid, in an official statement, expressed gratitude for Higuain’s years of dedication and professionalism, extending their best wishes for success in his new journey with Napoli.
