Morocco forward Brahim Díaz has been crowned the Golden Boot winner at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after finishing the tournament as its leading scorer.
The Real Madrid attacker ended the finals with five goals, completing a rare double after also emerging as the top scorer during the AFCON 2025 qualifying campaign — a feat that highlighted his consistency and growing influence within the Moroccan national team.
Despite Morocco’s defeat to Senegal in the final on Sunday night, no player surpassed Díaz’s goal tally, securing him the Puma Golden Boot as the competition’s most clinical finisher.
Díaz enjoyed an impressive run throughout the tournament, finding the net at every decisive stage of Morocco’s campaign. He opened his account with the first goal in a 2-0 victory over Comoros, before scoring again in a 1-1 draw against Mali.
A brace against Zambia sealed a dominant group-stage performance, while further goals against Tanzania in the Round of 16 and Cameroon in the quarterfinals underlined his importance in the knockout phase.
By scoring in five different matches, the 25-year-old joined an elite group of players in AFCON history to score in multiple consecutive games within a single tournament.
The Golden Boot triumph places Díaz firmly in Moroccan football folklore, marking him as one of the nation’s most prolific performers in a single AFCON edition and setting a new benchmark for sustained excellence on the continental stage.
