Morocco forward Azzedine Ounahi has expressed the determination within the Atlas Lions camp as they prepare to face Senegal in the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, stressing that the team is fully focused on keeping the trophy on home soil.
Morocco will take on Senegal at 19:00GMT on Sunday at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium, with the hosts aiming to end a long wait for continental glory in front of their supporters.
Speaking in a press statement ahead of the final, Ounahi highlighted the collective commitment within the squad.
“Every player in the team, whether experienced or young and ambitious to prove themselves, is ready to give his best, and we are all focused on one dream, which is to win the title and make our fans happy,” he said.
The midfielder also praised head coach Walid Regragui for fostering unity within the group.
“Regragui made us feel like one family, with everyone supporting each other on and off the field, and that’s what makes the team cohesive and ready to face the challenge,” Ounahi added.
Ounahi further described the mood in camp as positive and intense, adding, “The atmosphere within the team is full of enthusiasm and focus, and preparations are proceeding with the same seriousness as in previous matches.”
“Tomorrow we will play 11 players against 11 players, and our goal is to deliver the best possible performance and make the fans happy, whether they are in the stands or watching the match remotely.”
A win against Senegal in the final will see Morocco end a 50-year wait for a second Africa Cup of Nations title, having last lifted the trophy in 1976.
