The Tanzanian Football Federation announced the dismissal of Algerian coach Adel Amrouche on Friday, January 19th, in light of his derogatory statements towards Morocco and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The Tanzanian Football Federation did not wait for the conclusion of the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast and promptly severed ties with Adel Amrouche following CAF’s decision to suspend the Algerian coach for eight matches and impose a fine of $10,000.
In response to this development, the Tanzanian Football Federation, on Friday evening, appointed Hamid Moroco Suleiman as the interim coach for the national team, assisted by Juma Mjonda, succeeding Algerian Adel Amrouche.
Amrouche faced disciplinary action after accusing the Royal Moroccan Football Federation of “collusion” and “manipulating referee appointments,” impacting match outcomes in media statements.
Consequently, the CAF Disciplinary Committee summoned Adel Amrouche, the coach of the Tanzanian national team, to appear before them.
Earlier, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation filed a formal complaint with the Confederation of African Football, citing documented television statements by Amrouche.
The Tanzanian Football Federation had previously rejected the statements made by their national team coach, Adel Amrouche, who accused Morocco of manipulating the timing of the national team’s matches in the African Cup of Nations and influencing referee appointments.
The CAF Disciplinary Committee concluded the case of Algerian coach Adel Amrouche, imposing an eight-match suspension, including the Tanzanian national team’s encounters against Zambia and Congo in the second and third rounds of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast 2023.
The suspension follows Amrouche’s false allegations against the Royal Moroccan Football Federation in a press statement through Algerian media, claiming that the Moroccan federation controlled the timing of the national team’s matches and referee appointments.
