Mozambique coach sees Ghana clash as a final, acknowledges tough challenge ahead

In a crucial turn of events at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, Mozambique’s head coach, Shekinho Conde, likened their upcoming encounter with Ghana to a final, emphasizing the formidable task that lies ahead.

Mozambique faced a setback in their previous match against Cape Verde, succumbing to a 3-0 defeat, which has diminished their prospects for advancing from a group that also includes Egypt.

Addressing the media in a press conference, Coach Conde remarked, “They absolutely deserve the win. They caused us a lot of problems.”

He continued, “They are fast players with high technical skills who quickly make their presence felt. On our part, we lacked the energy.”

Looking ahead to the pivotal clash against Ghana, Conde stated, “This is our first final. We find ourselves with our backs against the wall, and we no longer have a choice.”

He concluded, “We must strive for victory, and it won’t be easy because the Ghanaians want the same.”

As Cape Verde secured their position at the top of the group with 6 points, guaranteeing their spot in the next stage, Egypt follows in second place with 2 points from two draws.

The upcoming match between Cape Verde and Egypt will determine their final standings.

Ghana, currently in third place with 1 point, and Mozambique, at the bottom with the same points but a goal difference disadvantage, face each other in their last group-stage match.

Mozambique, yet to qualify for the next stage or secure a victory in their Africa Cup of Nations history, faces a formidable challenge.

The decisive matches for Group B are scheduled for the upcoming Monday night, adding anticipation to the unfolding drama of this highly competitive group.
