Algerian YouTuber and social media influencer Raouf Belkacemi has been placed in temporary detention in Morocco and referred to trial over alleged indecent behaviour inside a sports stadium in Rabat.
The Public Prosecutor at the Rabat Court of First Instance ordered on Monday, January 12, 2026, that Belkacemi be held in custody pending trial on charges linked to conduct contrary to public morals within a public facility.
The case stems from a video that circulated widely online, showing Belkacemi behaving inappropriately in the stands of Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium during Algeria’s Round of 16 Africa Cup of Nations match against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Moroccan media report that he faces multiple charges, including public indecency, violating public morals, and insulting a public facility under Moroccan criminal law.
Belkacemi was arrested in Casablanca on January 7 before being transferred to Rabat. He was initially released, then re-arrested after further procedural review.
With more than 1.4 million followers, the case has drawn significant public attention. The court is expected to hear the matter in the coming days.
