Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has indicated that he believes attacker Brahim Diaz can become the best player in the world.
The Atlas Lions boss has been full of praise for the 26-year-old following his impressive performances at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Diaz has been one of the standout players of the tournament, already scoring five goals to place himself at the top of the scoring charts.
His tally keeps him ahead of other leading contenders such as Mohamed Salah and Victor Osimhen, underlining his importance to Morocco’s title push.
Beyond his goals, Regragui has been particularly impressed by Diaz’s work rate and commitment on the pitch, qualities he believes separate top players from truly elite ones. The Morocco coach highlighted the forward’s willingness to work hard for the team as a key factor in his development.
“It’s so important when you see your best player running like this, and then when he scores very important goals for us.
“I told him that he can be the best player in the world if he wants,” Regragui told ESPN.
Diaz will be key for Morocco on Wednesday, January 14, when they take on Nigeria in their semi-final clash.
