The Super Eagles of Nigeria have taken a significant step toward qualification for the final phase of the 2014 African Nations Championship. In the match against Ivory Coast in Kaduna, Nigeria secured a 4-1 victory. Gambo Mohammed opened the scoring in the 12th minute, followed by Sunday Mba, who scored before the break. Tiecoura Coulibaly scored the only goal for Ivory Coast. In the second half, Mba completed his double, and Nigeria added another goal by Ifeanyi Ede. Ivory Coast ended the game with nine players as Gloudoueu and Roger Assale were sent off. The return match is scheduled in two weeks.
