According to reports from L’Équipe, the 29-year-old player might be retained by Lille, especially given the departures of other key players such as Aurelien Chedjou (to Galatasaray) and Dimitri Payet (to Marseille), along with the probable departure of Lucas Digne to Monaco. Mavuba clarified in an interview with the daily, “You shouldn’t make up a story. I’m not 100% sure, but today I didn’t get any offers either. It’s not like I had a choice!”
