The presence of Qatari ownership at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has faced criticism from the National Front (FN), a political party in France. The FN, through Eric Domard, sports advisor to Marine Le Pen, secretary general of the FN, expressed concerns about the acquisition of PSG by Qatari funds in a press release.
Domard raised questions about whether PSG, owned by Qatari funds since 2011, is still a French club or if it is becoming a vehicle for the influence of the Islamic emirate in France. The statement also accused Qatar of supporting jihadist movements and questioned the motivations behind its investment in the world of sports, suggesting that it had the support of major political parties in France.
