Morocco international Brahim Diaz is on the verge of extending his stay at Real Madrid, according to Spanish radio station Cadena SER.
The report indicates that the Spanish giants are preparing to offer the midfielder a contract running until 2030, with Diaz reportedly ready to commit to the extension.
Despite his growing influence with the Moroccan national team, Diaz has faced limited opportunities at club level this season.
Cadena SER highlighted that, under Xabi Alonso, the 24-year-old has logged just 484 minutes across competitions—significantly lower than the 800 minutes he had played by the same stage last year under Carlo Ancelotti.
This season, Diaz has featured in 12 La Liga matches, totaling 312 minutes, and has appeared in six Champions League fixtures.
In contrast, his performances at the Africa Cup of Nations have been impressive. He opened the scoring against Zambia on Monday, converted a penalty in the 1-1 draw with Mali, and netted again in Morocco’s 2-0 victory over Comoros.
With three goals in three AFCON matches, Diaz ranks among the tournament’s leading scorers, showcasing his creativity and ability to dictate play in the Moroccan midfield.
His form on the continental stage has underscored his importance to the Atlas Lions, even as he navigates challenges at Real Madrid.
