Spanish giants Barcelona is expected to miss out on the signing of England international of Ivory Coast descent, Marc Guehi ahead of the summer transfer window.
Guehi, who is the captain of Crystal Palace came close to joining Liverpool on summer transfer deadline day, but the deal fell through. The rock-solid defender is expected to be at a transfer bidding war next summer, with his current contract expiring in June 2026.
Barcelona, who are keen about securing the services of the highly-rated defender now face a stumbling block. Guehi has a very high salary demands, which Barcelona are unlikely to meet.
This gives Liverpool the upper hand for the acquisition of the top English-Ivorian defender in the summer window.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid, Manchester City and other top European clubs are said to be interested in the defender, who becomes a free agent next summer.
Guehi joined Crystal Palace from Chelsea for €24 million in 2021. Over the years, he has become a true leader for Palace, making 183 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals and providing 8 assists.
This season, Guehi has featured in 28 matches for Crystal Palace, netting 3 goal and providing 4 assists.
