Mohamed Shawky reveals surprise regarding Hossam El-Badry's departure from coaching Egypt's national team

Former Egypt national team assistant coach under Portuguese manager Carlos Queiroz, Mohamed Shawky, has disclosed the reasons behind the latter’s departure from coaching the Pharaohs.

Speaking in a television interview on MBC Egypt, Shawky stated, “Queiroz decided to leave coaching the Egypt national team due to the inappropriate treatment he received from the current Football Association management.”

He continued, “There was no flexibility in the negotiations between the Football Association officials and Queiroz for the renewal of his contract.

The Portuguese coach felt that the Football Association did not want him to continue coaching the national team, so he decided to leave.”

Shawky further elaborated, “Queiroz wanted to continue with the national team and had a plan for all the national teams.”

It’s worth noting that Queiroz led the Egypt national team to reach the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021, only to lose to Senegal in a penalty shootout.
