Tunisia defeated Uganda 3-1 on Tuesday night in their opening match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The first goal for the Carthage Eagles came early in the match at the 10th minute mark, courtesy of a well-taken strike by Ellyes Joris Skhiri.
Tunisia continued to press forward and were rewarded for their efforts in the 40th minute when Mohamed Elias Achouri found the back of the net to double their lead.
The Tunisian team maintained their high level of performance in the second half, with Achouri adding to his tally with another goal in the 64th minute.
Despite their best efforts, Uganda struggled to contain Tunisia’s attacking threat but managed to pull one back in the dying moments of the game. D. Omedi scored a consolation goal for Uganda in the 90th minute, but it was not enough to alter the outcome of the match as Tunisia earned all three points to take control of Group C.
