Sevilla have joined the race to sign France international of Ivory Coast descent Elye Wahi ahead of the winter transfer window.
Wahi is out of favour at Frankfurt and is looking to get his career back on track with a move away from the German outfit.
Following his struggles at Olympique de Marseille, he joined the Bundesliga club last summer, but has struggled for goals while in Germany.
The 23-year-old forward is expected to depart Frankfurt in the January window, with a host of clubs expressing interest.
Wahi is a top transfer target for Nice and manager Franck Haise, who knows the attacker from his time at RC Lens. The club had been optimistic about securing a loan deal for Wahi, but their attempt has been dealt a huge blow, with Sevilla entering the race for the signing of the forward.
Sevilla are keen to hijack Wahi’s potential move to Nice, submitting a loan offer with an option to buy. The Spanish side now has the upper hand in the signing of the forward, having included a purchase option unlike Nice.
