Moroccan security services have arrested eight people accused of illegally trading tickets for the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations 2025 matches in the country.
The judicial police, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutors, opened criminal investigations to determine the extent of the suspected network’s activities.
According to Kooora, Morocco’s cyber‑monitoring units detected social media posts offering AFCON tickets for sale in ways that violated regulations. These online offers triggered both technical and on‑the‑ground investigations, which helped identify those allegedly involved.
Arrests were carried out in several cities, including Rabat, Temara, Agadir, Salé, Marrakech and Mohammedia, before the suspects were placed under judicial investigation. The ongoing inquiry aims to uncover any additional accomplices and understand the full background of these cases.
Authorities had already received numerous complaints from Moroccan and foreign fans who travelled to follow the tournament and were confronted with illegal reselling practices.
These activities drove ticket prices to unprecedented levels and left many seats empty in some matches, despite strong demand from genuine supporters hoping to enjoy the competition.
Host Morocco started their AFCON 2025 campaign with a 2-0 win against Comoros.
