Chelsea have reportedly opened talks about a potential January move for Ghana international Antoine Semenyo.
The Premier League club, who had targeted a new forward in the summer, have reportedly reached out to Semenyo’s representatives to explore the possibility of bringing the Bournemouth striker in ahead of schedule, according to The Athletic.
Semenyo, 25, has attracted interest from several top English clubs, including Tottenham, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool.
His current contract with Bournemouth runs until 2030 and includes a £65 million release clause that becomes active in January.
The Ghana international has been in impressive form this season, netting eight goals and providing three assists in 16 Premier League appearances.
Previously valued at £70 million in the summer, his winter release clause sets a clear price, giving Bournemouth a short window to find a replacement if the clause is triggered.
Should the Cherries manage to retain their star forward through the winter, the clause would remain in place for the following transfer window, albeit at a reduced figure.
