Sudan forward John Manu has fired a warning to Algeria ahead of their opening Group E match against Algeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Speaking in a pre-match interview, he said Sudan are not scared of any opponent, adding that they are not in Morocco just to participate in the AFCON.
“Many generations have gone through the selection process. Today, we came with the desire to do something different. We are not here just to participate, but to represent Sudan with dignity and try to compete in this competition,” Mano said.
He continued, “Honestly, preparing for the match against Algeria is like preparing for any other match we prepare for as a national team. Algeria has talented players and good players, with real experience in African competitions. For our part, we are mainly focused on our level of preparation and, God willing, we hope to do our country proud against Algeria.
“It’s not just Algeria: the entire AFCON includes teams with quality players. Without that, these teams wouldn’t have reached this level.”
The clash between Sudan and Algeria is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, December 24.
