Laurent Blanc was named the coach of Paris Saint-Germain last Tuesday, and Pape Diouf shared his thoughts on the appointment of the French coach to lead the capital club.
In an interview with RMC, the former president of Olympique de Marseille highlighted the perceived hypocrisy surrounding Laurent Blanc’s arrival. Diouf argued that the widespread support for Blanc is a façade, suggesting that when Qataris took over Paris Saint-Germain, there were expectations within French football for a reciprocal investment in domestic talent. However, Diouf claimed that the Qataris have shown a preference for acquiring foreign players.
He expressed the belief that supporting Laurent Blanc is a way for French football to assert its claim for a share of the benefits. Diouf acknowledged that while he personally believes Blanc possesses the qualities to coach, he also pointed out the underlying hypocrisy, stating that if Paris Saint-Germain had found their preferred coach, Blanc might not have been selected.
