AFCON 2025: Comoros coach Stefano Cousin downplays pressure ahead of Morocco opener
Head coach of the Comoros national team, Stefano Cousin insists his outfit will approach the Morocco clash in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations opening game without pressure.
The Les Coelacantes opens their account on Sunday evening against the Atlas Lions in a high-stake clash, to be held at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
Despite acknowledged the difficulty in facing Morocco and likening the match to climbing a Mount Everest, the Italian gaffer remains confident, saying the side with play the match without pressure.
“We will play without pressure, and if we achieve a positive result, it will be a great accomplishment for us.” He said.
Meanwhile, the Italian tactician has named Morocco as a strong contender for the continental showpiece, considering the squad depth at their disposal.
“Morocco is a great team and a strong contender for the title, especially after their historic achievement in the World Cup, but we will not play with a purely defensive mindset. We have a technically gifted team, and it would be a mistake to simply defend without utilizing our capabilities.” He concluded.
