Senegalese defender Mamadou Mbacke set for Barcelona exit amid European interest

Barcelona are preparing to offload Senegalese-French defender Mamadou Mbacke during the January transfer window, with several European clubs showing interest.

Mbacke, 23, joined Barcelona from LAFC last year and has been a consistent figure for Barca Atletic, though he has yet to break into the senior side.

According to Africa Foot, the club is now open to a sale, eyeing opportunities to recoup investment while allowing the player to pursue first-team football elsewhere.

Clubs reportedly monitoring Mbacke include Slavia Prague, Swiss side FC Basel, and Spanish outfits Cádiz CF and Málaga, all seeking defensive reinforcements in the winter window.

Under contract until the end of the current season, Mbacke has an option for a two-year extension, giving Barcelona flexibility in negotiations depending on offers received.

During his time with Barca Atletic, Mbacke has accumulated 56 appearances and scored three goals, establishing himself as a reliable presence at the heart of the defence.

While the Senegalese defender has yet to feature in La Liga, his performances in the second team have attracted attention across Europe, highlighting his potential to step up at a higher level.

The January window provides a chance for Mbacke to secure regular first-team football while enabling Barcelona to streamline their defensive options and invest in emerging talent within the squad.
