AFCON 2025: South Africa coach Hugo Broos allays fears over Oswin Appollis injury

Head coach of South Africa, Hugo Broos, has allayed fears over an injury sustained by Bafana Bafana midfielder Oswin Appollis in the pre-AFCON friendly against Ghana on Tuesday.

Oswin Appollis, who plies his trade for Orlando Pirates limped off, as the Bafana Bafana cruised to a narrow victory over the Black Galaxies of Ghana

The initial fear was that the enterprising midfielder was likely to miss the continental showpiece, which kick start three days’ time in Morocco.

But Broos has no worries about the midfielder’s injury and expect him to recover in time for the tournament.

“He just got a kick on his leg, and maybe tomorrow he will have a little problem. But ok, it’s nothing major.” Broos told SABC after the game.

The Orlando Pirates star has established himself as a member of the Bafana Bafana squad since making his debut.

The 35th edition of the continental showpiece has been scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 21 through to January 18, 2026, with 24 countries set to battle it out for the covetous trophy.
