Guinea-Bissau striker Beto on Roma’s radar for January move

Serie A side AS Roma are reportedly preparing a move for Everton striker Beto in the upcoming January transfer window.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the 27-year-old Guinea-Bissau international has emerged as a potential target as Roma seek to strengthen their attacking options.

Roma are understood to be primarily focused on Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee, with talks reportedly ongoing over a possible January deal.

However, the Italian club have kept their options open, with Beto seen as a viable alternative. Genoa’s Jeff Ekhator is also on their shortlist.

Beto joined Everton from Udinese in August 2023 and has experienced an inconsistent period at Goodison Park.

The Lisbon-born striker began his career in Portugal, progressing through Oeiras and SL Benfica’s academies before turning professional with URD Tires nearly a decade ago.

At Everton, he spent his first 18 months in and out of the starting lineup before becoming a regular under David Moyes.

This season, however, Beto has struggled for form, scoring just two goals in 18 appearances in the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

Despite recent difficulties, his market value remains high, with Roma among several clubs monitoring his situation closely.

AS Roma’s need for a striker has been highlighted by underwhelming performances from Artem Dovbyk and Evan Ferguson, both of whom have struggled at the Stadio Olimpico.

With multiple candidates on their radar, Roma appear set to secure reinforcements during the winter window.

Beto’s previous experience in Serie A with Udinese could make him an attractive and familiar option for the Giallorossi as they look to maintain their title challenge.
