Real Madrid and Vinicius Junior reach agreement on new contract in latest twist – Report
Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement with Vinicius Junior over a new contract, ending more than a year of protracted negotiations.
The Brazil international, who also has Cameroonian heritage, has seen his current deal extended, keeping him at the Santiago Bernabéu until 2027, sources say.
Okdiario chief pundit Eduardo Inda, speaking on El Chiringuito, confirmed the renewal but noted the announcement will come only after a few weeks or months.
“They tell me that Vinicius has been renewed and that it will not be announced until a few weeks or a few months have passed. They tell me it’s done and it will be announced when it’s time. He has given in because he has asked for a signing bonus and it has not been accepted by the board,” Inda said.
Inda added that Real Madrid is already planning for the future, ensuring they do not lose the chance to sell a top player.
According to the pundit, Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams has emerged as the preferred replacement should Vinicius eventually depart.
“Real Madrid is thinking about signing a footballer who has been a Real Madrid fan since he was born: Nico Williams. He has always wanted to sign for Real Madrid, he is a Real Madrid fan at heart. The information I have is that Vinicius is renewed and if at some point he leaves, a player they really like is Nico Williams,” Inda said.
Williams, a Spanish-Ghanaian winger, has previously turned down Barcelona twice, but Inda believes he would be more receptive to Real Madrid.
The deal secures Vinicius for the club’s immediate future while signalling Real’s intent to maintain strength in wide attacking positions, balancing continuity and succession planning.
Real Madrid’s strategy reflects their desire to protect their assets while preparing for potential high-profile departures in the coming seasons.
