Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka has spoken highly about head coach Eric Chelle, crediting the Nigerian tactician for bringing a refreshing and effective approach to the national team.

Onyeka believes Chelle’s methods set him apart from previous coaches and have played a key role in improving the team’s overall performance.

Reflecting on Chelle’s impact, Onyeka highlighted the clear changes in Nigeria’s style of play and tactical organisation since the coach’s arrival.

“I think he came in and changed everything – the way we played, the way we’ve been set up, and his philosophy is just really good,” said Onyeka in an interview with BBC Sport Africa.

The midfielder also praised Chelle’s man-management skills, describing him as approachable and supportive in his dealings with the players.

“He’s a loving coach. The way he speaks to the players, he makes fun of the players. It’s just different compared to what we had before,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has tasked Eric Chelle to take the Super Eagles to the final of AFCON 2025.

At the tournament scheduled to kick off in Morocco on Sunday, December 21, Nigeria are in Group C, where they will compete with Tanzania, Uganda, and Tunisia.
