A study published by L’Equipe indicates that the media impact of the vélodrome name in 2010 was approximately €27 million. The popularity of Olympique de Marseille (OM) was evident during that period when the club won its last French league title. Currently, OM is seeking a naming partner for the Vélodrome at a cost of €6 million. The Stade Vélodrome is the second-largest stadium in France after the Stade de France and underwent renovations for Euro 2016, with a budget of €273 million. After renovation, its capacity is 67,000, compared to 60,000 during the 1998 World Cup. The attendance record stands at 58,897, set in 2004 during a UEFA Cup semi-final against Newcastle.
