Egypt provides injury update on Mahmoud Hassan and Ibrahim Adel ahead of friendly tie with Nigeria
Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has provided the latest updates on the condition of two key wingers ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group B opener against Zimbabwe next Monday.
Al-Ahly’s Mahmoud Hassan, commonly known as Trezeguet, and UAE’s Al-Jazira winger Ibrahim Adel were the centre of attention during the team’s pre-tournament briefing.
As part of final preparations, Egypt will face Nigeria in a friendly at Cairo Stadium on Tuesday ahead of the continental tournament, which runs from December 21 to January 18 in Morocco.
Ibrahim Hassan, the national team’s director, told the Egyptian Football Association media centre that Trezeguet sat out Monday’s training and will miss the friendly due to treatment for severe tooth pain.
“Trezeguet will, however, be fully fit and available for the Zimbabwe match,” he confirmed.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Adel has joined the squad despite a sprained ankle suffered during UAE Cup action with his club.
The director stated that Adel will also be ready for the opener against Zimbabwe but will not participate in Tuesday’s friendly.
