DR CONGO: CLAUDE LE ROY LEAVES THE LEOPARDS!

It appears that Claude Le Roy has concluded his role as the coach of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) national football team. The decision comes as a result of an amicable agreement between Le Roy and the Congolese Federation of Association Football (Fecofa). His contract, which expired in September, will not be renewed.

Claude Le Roy’s departure follows his inability to fulfill the main expectation of qualifying the DRC national team, the Leopards, for the 2014 World Cup. Despite the challenges, Le Roy mentioned that he had a positive experience during his two years with the team and expressed satisfaction with the time spent with the players and the federation.

Known as “The White Wizard,” Claude Le Roy has a long history of coaching in Africa, dating back to 1985 when he took charge of the Cameroon national team. With Cameroon, he achieved success by winning the African Cup of Nations in 1998. Throughout his career, Le Roy has also managed other African teams, including Senegal (1989-1992) and Ghana (2006-2008).

Le Roy’s extensive experience in African football has earned him respect, and his contributions to various national teams on the continent have left a lasting impact. It will be interesting to see where his coaching journey takes him next.
