Cameroonian forward Bryan Mbeumo named Manchester United’s Player of the Month

Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit has offered a candid appraisal of Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo, highlighting both his strengths and potential areas for growth.

Petit praised the 26-year-old for his technical ability and intelligent movement but suggested there is one key element missing to elevate his game further.

Mbeumo has started all 13 Premier League matches this season and quickly established himself as an essential figure for manager Ruben Amorim.

His contributions, five goals and one assist in 14 appearances, have been pivotal as United aim to secure a top-six finish and maintain their European ambitions.

The winger’s £71 million transfer from Brentford has already begun to justify the club’s investment.

Speaking to Snabbare, Petit drew comparisons between Mbeumo and former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette.

“He reminds me of Alexandre Lacazette, they play in the same style. His movement, technical skills, the way he tries to link up with his teammates on the pitch,” Petit said.

“Mbeumo has probably been the best player so far from the start of the season for Manchester United. He’s a very intelligent guy. His movements are always clever, he’s clever technically as well as physically. Even if he’s not a tall guy, he’s a menace for defenders.”

Petit also lauded Mbeumo’s work ethic and commitment on the pitch.

“He always gives 100% on the pitch, and it’s certain that the Manchester United fans are very happy that he signed for the club,” he added.

“For me, he’s the leader on the pitch, the way he plays, the way he behaves, and I think his commitment is brilliant. Sometimes I feel, it would be different if he could play with different players, especially up front with Manchester United. I have the feeling that he’s missing something, that being the right players around him,” Petit explained.

Mbeumo is expected to feature in Monday’s Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers before joining up with his national team for the Africa Cup of Nations.
