The South Sudan U15 national team has participated in a detailed safeguarding programme led by FIFA Guardian representative for the CECAFA Zone, Veronica Lusichi, with support from FUFA’s Sarah Birungi.
The session focused on creating a safer environment for young footballers, emphasising child protection, awareness building, and the promotion of supportive and secure developmental pathways for emerging athletes.
The South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) expressed gratitude to FIFA, CECAFA and FUFA for their ongoing dedication to enhancing safeguarding standards within the region, noting that such initiatives remain vital to the growth and protection of young players.
The programme also provided coaches and team officials with practical guidance on identifying risks and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
By equipping both players and staff with essential knowledge, the initiative aims to cultivate a culture of accountability and safety that supports the long-term development of youth football in South Sudan.
