Guinea’s Minister of Sports, Titi Camara, is embroiled in a controversy surrounding the management of the budget for the African Football Cup of Nations co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. The former national Sily international is facing accusations of creating fictitious positions at various levels and simultaneously engaging in excessive billing for services rendered.
It is alleged that Titi Camara invoiced amounts totaling $92,500 and €82,000 for sports equipment for the national team, with the funds used to purchase 30 suits and ties for the team and its technical staff. This has prompted questions about the actual cost of each suit.
Another concerning aspect of the controversy pertains to transportation. The former Liverpool player is accused of spending $650,000 on a special flight lasting approximately 20 hours. Suspicions also surround players’ bonuses, with Titi Camara accused of claiming $1,050,000 as a players’ bonus, while reportedly only disbursing $780,000 as the minister.
